Mutter paneer is a simple everyday reciepe, made using Indian cottage cheese(paneer), green peas and flavoured with tomatoes, onions and spices. It pairs well with all the Indian breads and flavoured rices like pulao and biryani.
INGREDIENTS:
150 Grams Paneer
1/2 Cup Green Peas(Mutter)
1/2 Cup Curd
1 ½ Tsp Coriander Powder
1 ½ Tsp Cumin Powder
1 ½ Tsp Garam Masala
1 ½ Tsp Chilli Powder
1 Tsp Pepper Powder
2 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1 Tsp Lime Juice
1 Cinnamon Stick
3-4 Cloves
1 Bay Leaf
2 Star Anise
Shahi Jeera
1 Tsp Cashew Powder
1 Finely chopped onion and 1/2 onion cut into cubes
1 Capsicum cut into cubes
Tomato Puree (with 5 tomatoes)
Salt as per taste
Oil and Butter
GARNISH:
Finely chopped Coriander and Kasuri Methi
METHOD:
Add 1tsp of chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, lime juice and ginger garlic paste into a mixing bowl . Add 1 of cup of curd, little bit of oil and salt according to taste. Now add the paneer cubes into the mix and allow it to rest for a while.
Now in a pan add oil and spices like, cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaf, shahi jeera and star anise. Now add chopped onions and cook till it turns golden. Add salt according to taste and very less amount of water and then add ginger garlic paste. Saute it. Add cashew (kaju) powder which adds a kind of flavor and texture to the curry. (you can avoid it if you want your curry to be spicy and red). Now add chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala and add tomato puree. Mix it and you can find your gravy thickening. Add water and let it cook on slow flame.
Now on a tawa add butter. Add the coated paneer cubes on a pan along with onion, capsicum cubes and mutter(peas). Let the paneer cook on either sides. The leftover masala, which was used to coat the paneer can be used for making alu 65 or chicken 65 by adding little bit of cornflour.
Slide off the fried cubes into the gravy. If you want it with more gravy then put off the stove and if you want your mutter paneer thick and let it cook for 2 more minutes. Add little bit of kasuri methi. Finally garnish your curry with coriander.
Serve it hot with pulka, rumali roti , butter naan or flavored rice and ENJOYπ….
